The Supreme Court told his coalition they sued too early. His own press release admits it. Meanwhile the one case that has been ripe for a decade sits unfiled — because the defendant would be Massachusetts.
Yesterday William Tong announced another lawsuit. His office’s release says the case was co-led by the attorneys general of California, Massachusetts, Nevada and Washington. Five days before that, he announced another one. Massachusetts was on that one too.
Twice in six days he has filed in federal court shoulder to shoulder with Massachusetts.
YET on July 21, seventeen and a half million gallons of untreated sewage entered the Connecticut River from Massachusetts facilities. On July 24 he went on Hartford radio and said it was a federal issue, that his office had sent a letter, and — his words — “if I could sue Massachusetts tomorrow and make them do something different, I would.”
He can and he won’t.
He can find Massachusetts when there’s a press release in it for him – but he cannot find Massachusetts when there’s human waste on our side of the river. He will not sue his friends. He would rather co-counsel with them twice in a week at the expense of the people of Connecticut. He is not the people’s lawyer. He is the radical left’s political activist.
That’s why he’s the ABC AG. Anything But Connecticut.
All of his radical affirming filings are designed to make the conversation about Washington instead of addressing the electorate’s overwhelming lack of confidence in our electoral integrity. Where’s the conversation about Connecticut being in the top five states for lack of affordability? Where is the accountability for millions of dollars missing or uncollected from the DECD? Where is the contrition for the obstructive and inequitable manner in which he fought to suppress a Department of Corrections video for eight years?
Anything But Connecticut.

This is a man so consumed with Donald Trump that he cannot wait for a case to ripen. He puts his singular conduct ahead of the people of Connecticut, time and time again.
But the one case in this state that has been ripe for ten years — ripe every single time it rains — he will not touch. Because the defendant is in Massachusetts, and Massachusetts is where his co-counsel live.
Fifteen thousand people in Waterbury went five days without water and this office had nothing to say. The state auditors found twenty-two million dollars in loans nobody bothered to collect, with the same finding written down since 2013, and this office had nothing to say.
When a course correction is required to address the needs of the people of Connecticut, his office never has anything to say.
I’ll expect my office to be in broom-swept condition when I assume the Office of Attorney General in January 2027.
